The Official Milestone Before a New Beginning
Andrew and Naye, travelled to Japan to create a truly special memory during their trip. After discovering my portfolio, they decided to book a session in two locations that reflected their preferences: experiencing Japan’s traditional atmosphere and immersing themselves in its natural beauty. During our conversation, I learned that Andrew and Naye had been together for quite some time and were also expecting their first child. Andrew wanted to use this opportunity not only for a photo session, but also to make his proposal to Naye official a heartfelt milestone in their journey together.
A Heartfelt Proposal Surrounded by Japanese Nature
Our session began in Kyoto Botanical Garden. The crisp morning air and the sound of birdsong created a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. We started with casual poses by the lake, among the trees, and in the vibrant flower gardens. They also enjoyed a quiet moment at a traditional lakeside gazebo. Every natural detail brought the photos to life, and I made sure to highlight the couple’s warm connection, as well as Naye's beautiful baby bump. The most emotional moment came on a small wooden bridge surrounded by lush greenery. It was here that Andrew knelt down and presented a ring to Naye. After years together, this became the official symbol of their love story, a proposal filled with sincerity and joy.
For the next part of the session, Andrew and Naye changed attire into traditional Japanese Kimono. Surrounded by nature with a small waterfall as their backdrop, the scene perfectly reflected the Japan they had always dreamed of experiencing. Walking hand in hand through the garden in kimono had been on their wish list for a long time, and now it was finally coming true.
Kimono Walks Through Gion's Timeless Streets
Our final destination was the iconic Gion District, the heart of Kyoto's traditional charm. Here, Andrew and Naye, still in their beautiful kimonos, posed amidst the historic wooden machiya houses. We also ensured to capture some quiet moments in front of a nearby traditional shrine, allowing the deep history of Japan to frame their future together. The blend of Japanese heritage with their own love story created a wonderfully warm and romantic atmosphere. To conclude the session with a touch of modern fun, we made a quick playful stop for a must do tourist shot in front of a colorful Japanese vending machine.
Andrew was overjoyed with the final photos. He shared that the candid and natural style of photography made the entire experience feel authentic, capturing genuine emotions rather than staged poses. Each photo told a story that they could cherish for a lifetime. Wishing this wonderful couple endless happiness, and a joyful return to Japan one day with their little one.
