An Autumn Morning Session Turned Into Timeless Memories
This is the story of an engagement session between a couple from different cultures, united by their relationship. After their trip to India, the home country of his fiancé, Brandon contacted me to arrange a photo session during their visit to Kyoto, Japan. From our conversation, I learned how interested they were in experiencing the calm ambience of Japanese nature, so I recommended a location that matched what they were looking for. He agreed right away and also requested a set of black and white edits for a timeless look.
They arrived early in the morning at a quiet park, while I had already prepared my lens from a hidden spot to capture the moment naturally. As they walked across an enchanting stone bridge, Brandon suddenly stopped, went down on one knee, and opened the ring box. She was taken by surprise and of course said yes. I documented the proposal using a wide lens so the serene surroundings would also be part of the story.
We continued the session as they walked along a small path framed by lush greenery. They sat for a moment by the tranquil lake, and I used the opportunity to capture close-ups of the engagement ring. The morning sunlight slowly appeared, hitting the leaves and turning them into warm golden tones. The autumn scenery created a simple yet cinematic atmosphere. I also photographed their small gestures of connection, the way they looked at each other, a gentle kiss, and a few silhouette portraits to add a clean aesthetic touch to the gallery.
They enjoyed the peaceful environment, especially the many beautiful corners of the park that became part of their Japan memories. Along the way, they noticed interesting things like lemons hanging from a tree and a classic Japanese bonsai. They also took a short break on a park bench, laughing and enjoying the serene view.
We wrapped up the session with a few final portraits as they took a quiet moment together, taking in the surrounding nature. I’m grateful to have captured their moments, and I hope these photos will bring them joy whenever they look back at this day.
