A Joyful Family Session Among Kyoto’s Timeless Charm
This story of Ben and Kaitlyn. They discovered my work and feel connected with the natural, candid moments and warm emotions reflected in the photos. They wished for a session that would document their genuine connection as a family fun, relaxed, and timeless set against the beauty of traditional Japan.
We began the session in a serene Japanese garden, surrounded by the gentle colors of early autumn. The atmosphere was calm yet filled with laughter and warmth. I loved watching how effortlessly they interacted walking side by side, sharing stories, and enjoying the peaceful scenery. Every frame felt alive with their closeness and joy.
Our walk continued around the Yasaka Pagoda area, where Kyoto’s charming streets and traditional architecture added a classic touch to their portraits. The family’s cheerful energy brought such a lovely contrast to the stillness of the surroundings. These were not just photographs, but a visual diary of shared memories a mix of tradition, nature, and togetherness.
An Intimate Night Couple Session
This trip was also extra special for Ben and Kaitlyn, as they were celebrating their anniversary. To make it even more memorable, they decided to book an additional couple session later that evening. They wanted to experience a different side of Kyoto, the romantic and intimate feel that only comes after sunset, when the city slows down and lanterns softly light the quiet streets. The night session began near a small shrine, where we took a few portraits in front of its vibrant orange torii gates. The warm glow of the lanterns added depth and intimacy, wrapping the moment in a calm yet romantic atmosphere. Ben and Kaitlyn shared quiet laughter and gentle smiles, completely at ease in the peaceful night.
To make the photos feel even more timeless, they requested a series edited in black and white and vintage tones, a style that beautifully matched the nostalgic charm of Kyoto at night. The muted tones brought out their emotion and closeness, giving each frame a story of its own.
We couldn’t miss the must-have photo stop, Japan’s iconic vending machines. The neon glow added a fun, playful contrast to the serene setting, showing another side of their connection. The evening ended with a casual stroll around the neighborhood, where the auntum evening breeze comforting. It was the kind of night that felt simple yet meaningful just the two of them walking hand in hand through Kyoto’s timeless streets, closing the day with quiet joy and warm memories.
I’m deeply thankful to have documented these two beautiful sides of their journey, the warmth of family during the day, and the romantic intimacy at night. Hope these images will always remind them of this meaningful trip and bring them back to Kyoto, where love and family met under the gentle light of Japan.
