An Intimate Moment Beneath Autumn Scenery


This is the story of David and Sophie, a lovely couple visiting Japan for their autumn holiday. While looking for a photographer to document their trip, David immediately connected with my photography style. During our conversation, I learned how much he appreciate Japanese traditions and the country’s beautiful natural landscapes. On the scheduled day, they spent the afternoon attending a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, immersing themselves in the cultural experience. Later that afternoon, we met for their photoshoot in a garden filled with golden leaves and rich autumn colors. Dressed in elegant kimono, they blended naturally into the seasonal surroundings. As they walked through the grassy area, an unexpected moment unfolded. David suddenly knelt down and opened a ring box. Sophie was visibly surprised, then quickly said yes. I quietly documented the moment as they shared a gentle kiss, surrounded by the calm atmosphere of the garden.

Soft sunlight filtered through the trees, creating natural and flattering light. They continued exploring the park, I captured their gesture of connection, using the autumn leaves as a natural frame. They shared a light dance on the grass, with branches and foliage forming a simple yet aesthetic backdrop. There were also playful moments as they play hide and seek between the trees, adding a relaxed and genuine feel to the session. For a more artistic touch, I captured a few silhouettes of the couple against the surrounding landscape.

Every corner of the garden offered picturesque spot, with autumn colors ranging from warm yellows to deep reds. I photographed them among vibrant yellow leaves, creating a scene that felt both cinematic and magical.

They sat on a park bench to enjoy the view, framed by red maple leaves. One of the most tender moments came when David kissed Sophie’s forehead beneath the dense foliage, quietly expressing their intimacy. It was a pleasure to document their getaway in Japan and I hope these photographs bring back sweet memories of that meaningful day in Kyoto.
