Beautiful Surprise Framed in Autumn Nature


This is the beautiful story of Larry and Leigh’s engagement session, a cherished moment steeped in Kyoto's traditional charm and stunning autumn scenery. This lovely couple has been together for quite a long time, maintaining a long-distance relationship. They planned to spend some quality time in Japan along with Larry’s parents. When Larry was searching for a photographer, he said he felt an immediate connection with my portfolio. During our discussion, he shared his intention to propose during the shoot and asked me to help capture this meaningful moment.

They arrived in the morning at a serene park wrapped in soft autumn tones. Leigh believed it was simply a casual photo session with Larry’s family, so everything felt natural as they began walking through the trees. When they reached an area where a pagoda rose above the garden, we paused for a few portraits that blended nature and tradition. Then, unexpectedly for Leigh, Larry knelt down and opened a ring box. Leigh was stunned for a moment before kneeling down as well, saying yes with a big smile. They stood up together, and Larry gently placed the ring on her finger before sharing a sweet kiss. From the side, Larry’s parents watched the moment unfold, his mother quietly wiping away tears. We then took a few family photos to mark the occasion.

I used a wide-angle lens to capture the surrounding autumn scenery along with their joyful moments. I mixed these with close-up shots that highlighted their gestures of connection as they shared a small dance in the beautiful landscape. Their neutral outfits created a soft contrast against the warm reds and yellows of autumn. The frames naturally felt cinematic, and Larry had requested a vintage edit to give their story a timeless look.

We continued the session with another set of portraits featuring the pagoda and temple from different angles. I captured their genuine connection through their loving glances and exchanged smiles. Using a wide angle lens, I framed the traditional surroundings, vibrant nature, and this lovely couple together. I’m so grateful for the chance to capture this milestone. I hope my photography helps Larry and Leigh remember and relive the joy of their autumn proposal for years to come.
